A thought occurred to me the other day and I realised that I had been pondering it since 2011. This is because in that year I had a conversation with a lady in a christian bookshop about the evidence for god(s). After a little while she told me of how one day, after suffering from terrible headaches for some time, she saw a light or heard a voice and experienced God's presence in some way after which she was suddenly well and healthy again. She insisted that this event could not just be explained away and I accepted her account as neutrally as possible because it got me thinking, not for a reason why she was wrong but a reason why she felt it

At what point do certain ideals make and lose sense? Hypothetically if a person pays $10,000 in taxes and another pays $110,000 should their children receive the same tax-funded education? With taxes based on income then at what level of income does the answer change from yes to no? Is the answer always based on greed? And another thing. At what point did vaccination start to sound dangerous to some people? Generally, at what point in peoples minds do ideas not supported by the numbers find traction? Something got me thinking about the link between religions and systems of ethical value recently and yesterday I concluded that they are similar yet independent of each other. They are similar in that they are both sets of beliefs or faiths that do not manifest physically, while they are important to many people they are restricted to psychological actions only. However they differ in organisational patterns, where religions are typically structured and rigid; moral beliefs are, at best, organised via mass media and can change quite quickly over long timescales.
